CD RELEASES:

Porter Howell, frontman, lead guitarist, principal songwriter and a founding member of multi-Grammy-nominated ’90s country vocal band, Little Texas, has announced the release of his debut side project as a singer-songwriter, This Town Was, available Nov. 11. Pre-order is available now via ONErpm at https://onerpm.link/thistownwas.   Howell will perform at an album release party at 6pm CT Tuesday, Nov. 15 at The Local in Nashville. After 30 years in the business, it took a pandemic and the ensuing forced downtime from touring to compel Howell to compile this 10-track album of mostly self-penned songs. The title track and accompanying music video were released in April and garnered favorable reviews from Billboard and MusicRow. “This album was recorded in my basement studio as honestly as possible,” Howell says. “No production tricks necessary—guitars, steel guitar, bass, drums and keys were all tracked with players in the room, the old school way. It’s almost strange to feel this vulnerable by putting something out in the world that is so personal. I just hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.” Music and more at https://porterhowell.com.  (@porterhowellmusic)

DUO NEWS:

Rising Country duo Southerland has released a classic southern break-up anthem “Ice Cold Country Music,” available now at https://vere.lnk.to/SoutherlandIceCold.   The duo’s traditional and “unapologetically Country” (MusicRow) musical style pours through the upbeat track as they light-heartedly admit the only way they’ll get through the pain is with a cold beer and old friends like Merle Haggard, George Strait and Keith Whitley blasting through their stereo. The official music video set to accompany the track features former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Troy Aikman’s own beer brand, “Eight Beer.”  “’Ice Cold Country Music’ is about a guy going through a breakup and reaching for two things that can help him get over the hill… cold beer and Country music! What else do you need,” joke Matt Chase and Chris Rogers of Southerland. “It’s one of our favorite songs we’ve written and we always open our live shows with it to set the tone for the rest of the night!” Written by the duo along with Jeff Middleton and Greg Bates, “Ice Cold Country Music” follows their September release, “Underpaid and Overserved.”  More at https://southerlandmusic.com,  https://www.facebook.com/wearesoutherland/ (@southerlandmusic)

GRAND OLE OPRY NEWS:

Rising country artist Ashley Cooke recently stepped into the historic circle for her Grand Ole Opry debut. Cooke’s striking performance at the famed institution saw the emerging artist showcasing her sound in performances of “getting into” and her newly charting single at country radio, “Never Til Now” feat. Brett Young. After receiving a roaring standing ovation, the milestone moment turned full circle when Cooke was invited by Rascal Flatts’ lead singer, Gary LeVox, to join in on a duet of “What Hurts The Most.”  “Making my Opry debut was one of the most surreal moments I’ve ever experienced. I got into country music because I fell in love with and found comfort in the storytelling of Rascal Flatts,” shared Cooke. “Having Gary LeVox invite me into the circle and ask me to sing one of the songs that got me into music in the first place was completely full circle. I’m so thankful to have stood where every country great has before me and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the tradition.”  Tour dates and more at https://www.ashleycooke.com and Twitter and Instagram (@ashleycooke)
