Inside Track on Music Row: March 2019

BOOK NEWS:

Johnny Lee racked up 17 Top 40 country hits in the early and mid 90s. His 1980 single “Lookin’ For Love” became a crossover hit, making it to the Top 5 of Billboard’s pop charts and No. 1 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. Now, Lee has written “Johnny Lee: An Autobiography” with Scot England. In it, he tells of the highs and lows of his life as a country artist, including his many years touring with Mickey Gilley and appearing at Gilley’s Club in Pasadena. “I share all of those highs and lows in this book,” says Johnny. “I know it will make you laugh. It will also make you cry. I cried as I was writing it. And there will times when you might be shocked. But it’s all true.” Lee’s book is filled with hundreds of stories and rare photos that will interest any fan of country music. A quote from Moe Bandy on the back of the book sums it up: “When he first told me he was writing this book, I said, ‘I know you aren’t putting everything in it!’ Johnny yelled, ‘Yes I am!’ I just shook my head and said, ‘Oh Lord, we are all in trouble.’” The book is available at amazon.com.
