“Leavin’ Man” was written by Troy Ferris and encompasses what it’s like being in a relationship while always being on the road. Whiskey Dawn are Troy Ferris (lead vocals), Mike Cook (bass), Johnny Myers (lead guitar), and Kevin Maxwell (drums).

“Leavin’ Man” is a song about the struggle between life on the road and the unbalance it places on a relationship,” explains Ferris. “Be it a traveling businessman, deployed soldier, rodeo cowboy or just a bright-eyed troubadour, not being around when needed the most is as certain as the setting sun. “Leavin’ Man” paints the picture of a blossoming romance facing the truth of what it means to love a man/woman who’s passions are divided between their lover and their dreams. Inevitably, loving a man who’s gone all those lonely nights when she needs him home takes its toll. In the end, the one thing she’ll learn from their love is how to do the same thing….leave.”

The band’s most recent album, “Dear Nashville,” was released in Summer 2009. The band plans to release a 6-track EP sometime in 2012, with a follow-up single to “Leavin’ Man” to drop in the near future as well.

Over 200 people were turned away from overcrowding when Whiskey Dawn performed a few nightsback for 101.9 FM the Wolf’s Christmas party! Catch Whiskey Dawn live at the Powerhouse Pub in Folsom on Thursday, December 22 and Fulton 55 in Fresno on Friday, December 23. After Christmas they’ll be back at it again, at Johnny’s Cathouse in Redding (Thursday, December 29), followed by Kodiak Jack’s in Petaluma (Friday, December 30), and Red Hawk Casino in Placerville for New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31).

Whiskey Dawn made their national television debut on Oprah Winfrey’s new Oxygen Network in October when they were featured in a Texas-themed episode of “Bachelorette Party” while performing at famed Vegas nightspot, Gilly’s.
