You Have the Power to Make a Difference This Holiday Season

4th Annual Powerfully Thankful Event and Auction on Thursday, November 19th at Douglas Corner

You Have the Power is hosting its 4th Annual Powerfully Thankful Event and Auction on Thursday, November 19th at Douglas Corner (2106 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204) from 6:00 – 7:30pm CST. The city’s top singer/songwriters will hit the stage to perform their own songs of thankfulness during this Holiday season.
This year’s event is a unique evening featuring some of Nashville’s best vocalists including Baillie and The Boys, Claire Petrie, Etta Britt, Jonell Mosser and Les Kerr. In addition to entertainment, attendees will be able to bid on a variety of local Nashville items including admission to the Grand Ole Opry, a custom facial from Private Edition Spa, $100 gift certificate to Midtown Café, a round of golf for four at the Westhaven Golf Club, as well as other items. The proceeds from this auction will go towards programming for the not-for-profit’s mission to educate, advocate and empower individuals and communities who are impacted by violent crime.

About You Have the Power: You Have The Power… Know How to Use It, Inc. celebrates 22 years of serving the community as a state-wide non-profit victim advocacy organization. Founded in 1993 by former First Lady of Tennessee Andrea Conte, who herself was a victim of a kidnapping in 1988, the organization’s mission is to advocate, educate and empower victims and communities impacted by violent crime.

Baillie and the Boys is an American country music group that gained prominence in the late 1980s.  The band’s original lineup consisted of Kathie Baillie (lead vocals, guitar), her husband, Michael Bonagura (guitar, harmony vocals), and Alan LeBoeuf (bass guitar, harmony vocals). Not including Kathie Baillie’s solo recordings, Baillie and the Boys have recorded five studio albums and charted ten Top-40 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts (between 1987 and 1991).

Claire’s charm, warm wit and passion for people make her a genuinely natural fit in the traditional country world. Her voice is a welcome “new old friend” on the music scene. Etta Britt is a Nashville-based R&B singer and songwriter who performs across the country and around the world.  Her most recent CD, Etta Does Delbert, is a collection of Etta’s takes on a variety of Delbert McClinton songs. 
 As a youngster, Etta Britt (born Melissa Prewitt) would spend hours at her bedroom mirror, belting out Supremes songs into her Stanley hairbrush.  Today the seasoned veteran is forging a recording and performing career of her own after touring with and backing up some of the top names in the business. Born in Lancaster, Kentucky, a town of 3,500 south of Lexington, Melissa first became Etta at age 11, thanks to her little sister.  “She called me Etta and I called her Myrna. jonell mosserJonell Mosser
Jonell Mosser has won her die-hard legions of fans the old-fashioned way – by consistently producing great music. She is one of the go-to session singers, having sung on nearly 200 projects for artists as diverse and revered as Etta James, Vince Gill, Wynnona, Kristin Chenowith, Bruce Cockburn and Lee Roy Parnell. She was the first and only choice of uber producer Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, U2) to sing female lead for his personal project The New Maroons with Ringo Starr and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Born in Louisiana and raised in Mississippi, Les Kerr grew up surrounded by a mélange of musical genres including blues, rock, country, bluegrass and zydeco. His “Hillbilly Blues Caribbean Rock & Roll,” as he calls it, has become a hit in his current hometown of Nashville, TN.
