Town Mountain at The Station Inn on December 4 + 5

Asheville-based group Town Mountain will perform two nights at The Station Inn on December 4 and 5Since their inception over a decade ago, Town Mountain has continuously redefined modern roots music, making waves in both the studio and the live music circuit; from holding spots on the Billboard Bluegrass and Americana Radio charts for multiple weeks, playing on the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage and most recently, making their sold-out Red Rocks debut on a stacked lineup with Tyler Childers and Robert Earl Keen. Their most recent release New Freedom Blues has been praised by SiriusXMNo DepressionThe Bluegrass SituationAmerican SongwriterThe Boot, and Rolling Stone Country, who named the group an “Artist You Need to Know”.
Known for their rowdy, energetic performances, Town Mountain’s live show is a testament of each member’s refined musicianship. Rolling Stone Country recently said that the band is “reshaping a strict genre,” also commenting, “call it an evolution or a revolution, but it’s clear that Town Mountain is at the forefront.”
Comprised of Jesse Langlais (banjo/vocals), Phil Barker (mandolin/vocals), vocalist/guitarist Robert Greer, fiddle player Bobby Britt, and bassist Zach Smith, Town Mountain recorded New Freedom Blues at Asheville’s iconic Echo Mountain Studios with producer Caleb Klauder. The 11 tracks that comprise the album span the sum total of the band’s eclectic influences, from traditional bluegrass to roots pop to hardscrabble honky tonk, and features drummer/Sturgill Simpson collaborator Miles Miller,as well as a co-write with Tyler Childers.
GRAMMY winner, producer, and musician Buddy Miller said of the group, “Town Mountain aren’t out to reinvent the wheel, they’re like a new set of the finest tires that gives you a new ride. There’s no fat, no gratuitous notes, no extra stuff, just amazing songs, singing and playing from one of the best bands out there… or maybe they are the new wheel.”
