Described as Alt Blues, Roots, and Soulful Americana Kevin Jenkins is a true natural born talent. You’ll find so much more than the previously described. You’ll find smooth rock, classic blues, and body hugging soulful romance. There is something for everyone on this album so don’t make your call until you listen to each and every song.
“Spirit In The Sky” is rocking from the first note, the first lick. His creation and rendition of this iconic song is foot tapping and will have you singing from the first note. Awesome!!!
I’ve been told that if I get the chills when I hear a song…it’s a killer song. Well….Kevin’s rendition of “Spirit In The Sky” covered me with chills. This is a huge song to undertake for remake but it is tasteful and positive. The vocals are exceptional.
When you pull this album you’ll listen to each song completely through instead of jumping around. You’ll be compelled to listen to each and every song because they are that good. Each one is in a class of it’s own.
The instrumentals on this album are out of the park. The composition and mix are superb. All I can say is…Wow!
Track #2 is a smooth, blues grabbing, love song that will make you want to hold someone close and express yourself. My second favorite.
Well known around the world for his amazing ability to mold and bend melody and rhythm into impeccable musical creations Kevin has been highly sought by legendary artists like Graham Parker, Cyndi Lauper, and Taylor Dayne. His 38 year career has allowed him and his mesmerizing bass playing genius to perform in the noteworthy New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Albert Hall in London.
Kevin has opened shows for infamous and iconic legend Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, The Police and the great Michael Jackson. He is currently writing his own songs and working on his newest album with the master blues man Tomas Doncker of the True Groove All Stars.
“Janie’s Silver Lining” is a smooth soulful folk style with a splash of pop and jazz. Enjoyed the melody and easiness of the flowing lyrics. Another keeper.
Even before I finished this review I wanted my own copy of this album. Gotta have one and so will you. This album is one to place on the top of the watch lists for 2016 and was produced by blues giant himself, Tomas Doncker along with James Dellatacoma and co-produced by Kevin Jenkins.
I became totally absorbed in track #7 “Before You Close Your Eyes” and couldn’t stop listening. I loved the organ and the guitar with the elegant and unbroken rhythmic romance. Holds the listener again in a relaxing and yet uplifting ballad.
