The production and workmanship on this album are divine. The album was produced by Richard Borger on an Independent Label and the group is from Houston, TX.
The video “Division” opens with a familiar feel and an easy melody that takes you into a free form falling of space. The vocals are clear and bright, the lights, the glamour, and the suspense keep you captivated. The blast of the sax brings you back into the sensuous feel of funk and synth that surrounds various ranges of hypnotic vocals and harmonies.
I enjoyed the intro to “Hard Knot” with the synth feel, the slow movement and slight reverberation of vocals. It too has the outer limits feel.
“Reboot” has an 80’s feel to it and a nice intro. The organ and synth sounds bring it all together nicely.

“This album, and musical endeavor in general, stems from much introspection and self (and non-self) awareness. Sometimes a moment or series of events comes along in life that changes a lot of what you thought to be “true”, like the way things are supposed to be, or how you’re supposed to love, or where you’re supposed to work and live etc. Opening a music studio, learning how to produce, and deciding to create an album was the result of that moment, and the album title “Catching Me in Stride” was the attempt at catching that type of emotion, especially when it came to relationships. The most exciting thing about it was that there was never a point where we decided to say “let’s stick to this type of music or sound or vocal.” We decided to let whatever came to mind and sound be exactly how it felt, and that lent itself to quite a variety of sounds on the album, while still being very much connected in theme. Us three, having various styles and influences growing up, ended up creating something we feel is quite it’s own. We know where we feel the influence when we hear it, but the end product always sounds unique and fresh. There are moments scattered throughout the album that bring out strong emotions, whether that be longing, confusion, sadness, anger, or understanding, and we believe it finally arrives at acceptance with the crescendo at the very end of the album on “Argentine.” This album has something for everyone in both musical taste and emotional connection and we hope you all enjoy it.”
Richard Borger, the lead producer and audio engineer on this album is originally from Florida and currently works from a home studio, called Meraki Recordings, located in Houston TX. He worked for a short time as a solo artist and then met Stephen Mokulis, a phenomenal drummer and Akash Gupta, a dazzling multi-instrumentalist and producer. The three together make a fabulous trio who have definitely carved out their own unique sound and style.
Musicians on this work of art include Richard Borger with vocals, guitar, bass, keys, Akash Gupta on guitar, bass, keys, and horns, and Stephen Mokulis on drums. The group presents in the styles of Indie, Rock, Dance, and Electronic with a presence and feel of artists such as Tame Impala, Phoenix, Daft Punk, and Radiohead.
The first single and music video “Division” was released April 5, 2019, the second single “Indifferent” was released on April 12, 2019, and the full album called Catching Me in Stride was released on April 19, 2019.
