St. Jude Country Music Marathon: 2015 Race Week

Location

  • Nashville, Tennessee
  • Second year for new start line, amid Lower Broadway’s honkytonks in downtown Nashville, as well as a new course route. Runners will still pass numerous landmarks including Music Row, Belmont University and Bicentennial Mall. The course will lead participants past the Schermerhorn Symphony, Music City Center and the Musica Roundabout before finishing outside of LP Field, home of the NFL Tennessee Titans.

Participants

  • 2015: More than 30,000 participants expected in the full, half and 5K.
  • The kid’s race, known as KiDS ROCK Nashville presented by YMCA of Middle Tennessee, will feature more than 4,000 kids.
  • 5K:  Over 2,500 participants expected to run.

Entertainment

  • More than 50 bands along the course at 28 Entertainment Stages
  • Local cheerleading squads line the route competing in the Spirit on the Course competition
  • Martina McBride will perform at the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series Headliner Concert

SATURDAY, APRIL 25 – RACE DAY

St. Jude Country Music Marathon & 1Ž2 Marathon at 7 a.m.

Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series Headliner Concert

  • Headliner – Martina McBride
  • Post-race concert at Bridgestone Arena
  • Doors open at 6 p.m. Concert starts at 7 p.m.
  • The concert is open to all registered runners and volunteers.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26 – KiDS ROCK Nashville presented by YMCA of Middle Tennessee at L.P. Field

  • Registration still open
  • Over 4, 000 kids will run the final mile of a cumulative kid’s marathon training program.
  • 2-5 p.m.

General Comments:

  • The St. Jude Country Music Marathon & 1Ž2 Marathon has turned Nashville into a running destination.
  • The reputation of the event has helped bring more visitors to Nashville.
  • 2014 Economic Impact reached $39.1 million, surpassing 2013’s impact of $38.2 million.
  • The “word of mouth” about the event throughout the year is tremendously strong.  The most common comments from runners include “great organization” and “fun city.”
  • Support of all City Agencies; Public Works; Metro Police; Nashville CVC; Nashville Sports Council
  • Volunteers – 3,000 working with the event throughout the week

About the St. Jude Country Music Marathon & 1Ž2 Marathon

A Competitor Group event, the St. Jude Country Music Marathon & 1Ž2 Marathon will celebrate its 16th running in the Music City on Saturday, April 25. Featuring many of Nashville’s best live bands on 28 stages along the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses, the musically themed road race annually attracts more than 30,000 runners. Race weekend will kick off with a two-day Health & Fitness Expo on Thursday, April 24, and includes KiDS ROCK Nashville presented by YMCA of Middle Tennessee and a post-race concert Saturday night at the Bridgestone Arena. All participants receive free entry to the concert. Over the 15-year history of the race, runners have raised more than $24.1 million for a variety of worthy causes and nonprofit organizations, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
