Sound Royalties launches New Location in Nashville

Company passes $50M raised for music creators since 2016

Royalty Exchange, the world’s online marketplace for music royalties, just reached a major milestone – $50M raised for “behind the hits” creators/rightsholders, over 75% songwriters, in just three years since the company’s 2016 relaunch.

By connecting investors from outside the music world with creators directly through auctions, Royalty Exchange opened an untapped source of funding to songwriters and musicians worldwide, and drastically lowered the barrier of entry to investment in the music industry.

Of the 535 transactions completed (auctions, private syndicates, etc.), here were some highlights:

Most Bids: 107 – Bette Midler’s “The Rose”

Most Active Bidders: 20 – Kanye West’s 3x Platinum Hit “Mercy”

Most Popular Private Syndicate – Dire Straits

The last 12 months earnings’ of the catalogs (and portions of catalogs) listed on RE ranged between $1,000 to just over $300,000, and the genres varied almost as widely.

A few notable auctions included royalties from “Black Water” by The Doobie Brothers, “Empire State of Mind” by Jay Z / Alicia Keys, “All of the Lights” by Kanye, “Mary’s Song (Oh My My)” by Taylor Swift, “You’re The First, The Last, My Everything” by Barry White, and “Flawless” by Beyonce.
