Robert Earl Keen Announces Cosmic Cowboy Christmas Tour Come to Nashville Dec. 27th

Celebrating His 'Out of This World' Holiday Series with 8 Shows

Robert Earl Keen announces the Cosmic Cowboy Christmas Tour with eight shows beginning December 18 in Oklahoma City, and concluding December 29 in Fort Worth, Texas. Now in its seventh year, Keen’s holiday tours have become a fun, family tradition across the galaxy. Tickets for the tour will go on sale Friday, August 24, 2018, links at RobertEarlKeen.com.
The performances will include Keen’s classic “Merry Christmas from the Family,” and fan favorites, as well as, fun covers from his band members. “Wait until you to see what this year’s Christmas theme is going to entail,” Keen adds. “I always say, if you’re not in the holiday spirit now, you will be when you leave this show.”
Each holiday season the band takes the tour’s theme above and beyond. This year’s Cosmic Cowboy Christmas will be out of this world. The Huffington Post described the annual concert series this way: “For the uninitiated, it’s part comedy/variety show (think The Carol Burnett Show of old) and part musical cornucopia that’s full of pleasant surprises. It’s akin to Christmas morning, but one where Keen and his merry band of musicians continue to unwrap gifts you didn’t even know you were hoping for until they share them on stage.”
Keen first included “Merry Christmas from the Family” on his 1994 album, Gringo Honeymoon. In 1996, it reappeared on the album No. 2 Live Dinner, which is now available in vinyl. University of Texas Press released Keen’s companion book, also titled Merry Christmas from the Family, in 2005.
Opening the tour is Austin-based, swamp-pop-soul supergroup Shinyribs, except for the Ryman Auditorium show where Nashville songwriter, guitarist extraordinaire Pat McLaughlin will open.
