The Riders In The Sky did their first official performance as a group in a Nashville club in 1977. According to their biography, they only played for a crowd of eight or nine people on that November night. The popularity of their cowboy sound and their CD led to their Opry induction in 1982. They have performed in all 50 states and 10 countries, amassing a total of more than 6,000 concerts.

In the last decade, Riders In The Sky have continued to be relevent. They brought their sound to a whole new generation when they performed “Woody’s Round Up” in Toy Story 2. “Ranger Doug’s Classic Cowboy Corral” debuted on Sirius XM radio in 2006. It is still broadcast weekly.
