Nashville’s master of all trades Luke Dick currently has the #1 Country Song in the US with Dierks Bentley’s single “Burning Man,” which Dick co-wrote with Bobby Pinson. Aside from helping write hit songs for the likes of Bentley, Miranda Lambert and Eric Church, Dick also contributed his talents to Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour LP which recently took home Album of the Year at the 2018 Country Music Awardsand has been nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Country Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Always expanding his creative depth-of-field, Luke Dick is also excited to announce that his debut feature-length documentary Red Dog – which he co-directed, co-produced and scored – will be making its official World Premiere during this year’s SXSW Film Festival. He and co-creator Casey Pinkston will be in attendance at the premiere, while Dick’s irreverent post-punk/new-wave band Republican Hair will make their debut SXSW appearance during the music portion of the festival.
From the film’s official website: Award winning country songwriter Luke Dick spent his toddler years living in a strip club. During the 1970’s oil boom, The Red Dog was the rowdiest and most popular strip club in Oklahoma City. For five years it was the only home and family Luke and his mom had. She was a teenaged runaway, dope-addicted single mother, stripping with a fake I.D., and he grew up amidst the drugs, the danger, and the never-ending party. Now 30 years later, Luke has a toddler and a newborn of his own. As he began asking his mom questions about his own childhood- and what she was thinking letting a toddler run around in that place- she turns out to be more hilariously forthcoming than he ever imagined.
