Fifteen year old singer-songwriter from the Tulsa, OK, Mikayla Lane brings a powerful dynamic voice with soulful southern inflections to country music with her latest single “Superman.”
“Superman” is a country pop ballad that encourages everyone to fight for love, no matter how hard it gets.
“The inspiration behind “Superman” happened when I walked into the write with John. At first, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to write about that day, so John told me to start throwing out ideas. Just before that write, I was listening to “Wonder Woman” by Kacey Musgraves, so I had superheroes on my mind. I screamed, “Let’s write a song about Superman!” Honestly, I was halfway kidding, and not thinking much would come out of it, but here we are. After giving it some thought, we both thought the idea was actually kind of cool, so we started to brainstorm ideas of the storyline. We thought of tons of different ideas and the ones that stuck were the “perspective” type storylines.” says Mikayla. “I hope this song takes each listener to a memory of when they fought for love and it proved to be worth it. This is the first song I recorded and released that I had a hand in the writing process. I couldn’t be more proud to share this with the world.”
Though planted in deep country roots, Mikayla’s unique tone leads her across genre lines. Mikayla began performing at the early age of five and picked up a guitar at age 12. Mikayla’s Debut EP, Rooftop Nights was released in 2019 featuring “Pushing Up Daisies.” Lane continues to soar to new heights through performing regular local shows in her hometown and she also made her Music City performance debut at Ole Red Nashville in early 2020. Mikayla hopes for “Superman” to be her biggest release to date.
