Lucky 757 With a Rock a Billy Sound Right Out of The 50’s

I love the sound, the groove, the feel of the music and the entire essence of this group. It’s like a flash back to the fifties with a modern day twist. At first I could picture Buddy Holly and maybe even a little

mix of The Stray Cats. I know that’s a big jump but this group has it all.

Style, rhythm, presence, talent and overall natural pizzazz. This Portsmouth, VA based evocative and inviting quartet called Lucky 757 brings back to modern day music lovers the rockabilly style that so many still enjoy.

Formed in 2014 and sure to be on the major watch lists for 2019, this group of father and son duo songwriters, Danny and Cory Spivey along with their partners in musical excellence, Sam Haga and Angel Lopez will make you stand up and want more.

The group released their first self-titled album in 2015, quickly following it up with their second LP and amassing a nice following to boot. Both releases received exceptional reviews especially in the rock-a-billy communities and quickly found solid airtime.

Their album Memphis Sun is totally spot on with instrumentally rocking vibes and vocals that spare not one note. This is a short but sweet three-track album and is something to savor and enjoy many times over.

Lucky 757 fits nicely in the genres of rockabilly, Americana, and 50’s rock. Members of the band are Cory and Dan Spivey, Angel Lopez, and Sam Haga. Haga has brought some outstanding blues and jazz impressions to the group and his talent on the upright bass is bar none. Angel Lopez is probably one of the best drummers I’ve had the opportunity to hear this year. He’s on target holding down the rhythm section with a solid beat. Cory and Dan, father and son, were born to be part of the music industry. It’s undeniable that the gift is in the blood. Most of the songs are written by Dan Spivey with that special input from band members.

This album was recorded in Memphis at the legendary Sun Studio. Please visit www.lucky757.com for more information.
