The Songstress and Trucking Industry Spokesperson Takes A Day To Trade Her Truck Stop Tour for Tee Time
Recording artist and Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Highway Angel program spokesperson Lindsay Lawler traded some down time from her 2015 Highway Angel Truck Stop Tour for time on the green, all in an effort to raise money at the Annual Golf and Guitars event earlier this week at Haggis Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento.
Now in it’s eighth year, the event (which kicked off Monday) pairs artists with golfers in a tournament, during which teams have the opportunity to win money for the artist’s chosen childrens’ charity. Lawler took home $5,000 for her charity, Kidd’s Kids, founded by the late radio personality Kidd Kraddick – a dear friend and mentor of Lawler’s. Kidd’s Kids raises money throughout each year to provide terminally ill and/or disabled children an unforgettable, all-expenses paid trip to Walt Disney World™ in Florida.
“I worked with Kidd for several years, and we remained close even after,” said Lawler. “He was an avid golfer, music lover and a true kid at heart… I know how proud and excited he would be to have the contribution won through Golf and Guitars. I was able to deliver the news to Caroline, his daughter, while she was in a board meeting for Kidd’s Kids. It’s so rewarding to be able to donate to a cause so personal to me and my story.”
Lawler’s team included Sacramento Kings minority owner Phil Oates, reality star and world record holder Ryan Winther, and two other golf pros.
The event also included a two-night concert series, which included performances by Lawler, Josh Turner, Love and Theft, Julie Roberts, Ashley Monroe, Jason Michael Carroll, John Pardi, Old Dominion and A Thousand Horses, among others.

Lawler released new album Two Peaches, Six Cookies in March to iTunes. Her first single, Goodbye Go, ships to country radio June 1.
