Inside Track on Music Row: Summer Edition

June/July 2021

COLLABORATION NEWS:

CCB Nashville introduces the latest recording from its flagship act Cash Creek. The band will release “Hard Time” featuring a special vocal performance by Larry Stewart (former lead singer of Restless Heart). The trio’s fourth release since its reformation in 2012, the “Hard Time” (Radio Mix) will be distributed to country radio on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 (PlayMPE) and available via all digital retail and streaming platforms on Friday, August 6. (Radio Promotion spearheaded by Jennifer Blair/Distribution by CD Baby).  With a genuine admiration for modern country of yesterday, Cash Creek demonstrates its appreciation for Restless Heart as 80s country music trendsetters and hitmakers. The remix recreates the magic of the original tune as featured on the Restless Heart Wheels album.

“When Kimo told me Cash Creek was cutting ‘Hard Time,’ I smiled big,” said Larry Stewart. “While a fan favorite ‘by request’ at our shows, it was never a spotlight track; so to put it in the forefront as a fresh new and contemporary recording, and single, is a thrill. I look forward to rocking it with this band in live performances.” More at https://cashcreekband.com.

DUO MUSIC NEWS:

Between the two of them, Megan and Shane Baskerville have played just about every kind of American music you can imagine.  Defined by Megan’s force-of-nature vocals and Shane’s inventive guitar playing, their full-length debut, Daughter of Country, set for a Sept 3 release, is a memoir set to music, every word the God’s honest truth, as the husband-wife duo re-create the sounds pioneered by their heroes, while putting their own personal spin on the genre.  “I’m a daughter of country, raised my whole life,” Megan sings on the barn-burning title track. As her husband provides a hand-on-shoulder guitar solo, she recounts a rough childhood and a broken family, but the song also conveys the solace and wisdom that country music offered her.

“It’s a sad album,” says Megan, “but it needed to happen.” Shane agrees: “I don’t think we even had a choice. It all just came out. We had to bare our souls to put those things to bed and move on with our lives.” Videos, music and more at https://www.meganandshanemusic.com.

EP NEWS:

Born from his experience touring through and spending time in small towns all across America, Ben Gallaher’s Every Small Town EP is a collection of songs built on an indisputable window-down, radio-cranked country sound. Released June 25, the Quartz Hill Records’ debut EP is a five-song collection produced by seasoned music producers Mickey Jack Cones and Derek George.  Listen to the EP at https://orcd.co/everysmalltownep.

“To me, country music is the soundtrack to everyday life. That’s what these songs are about: the American spirit, family, community, love, loss, God, hard work, and being proud of who you are and where you’re from,” says Gallaher of his EP.

Gallaher co-wrote each of the five songs, delivering a cohesive, yet diverse set of heartfelt storytelling. Tracks like the guitar-driven love song “Get On One,” to the sobering “Town Ain’t Dry,” to the anthemic EP title track which American Songwriter describes as, “the very definition of the American spirit,” the Pennsylvania native successfully captures a musical snapshot of everyday life throughout the entire collection.  Videos, music and more at https://www.bengallaher.com.
