ACM NEWS:

Adversity breeds creativity… With the coronavirus putting the Covid Kybosh on the usual lavish Las Vegas ACM Awards, the organizers are getting creative as they strive to attract and hold the viewers’ attention for the show, now set to air September 16 at 7:00 pm CST. Among the innovative plans announced so far: Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Luke Combs and Jimmie Allen will perform “in the round” at the Bluebird, the famed venue in the Green Hills area of Nashville that is renowned for presenting songwriters in an intimate setting.  The lack of an audience won’t be a problem: even in ‘normal’ times, audience members are urged to keep quiet and listen! Meanwhile, Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett, Old Dominion and Thomas Rhett with Jon Pardi are set to perform at the Ryman Auditorium, the ‘Mother Church of Country Music’ during the broadcast. Who needs Las Vegas when you’ve got Nashville?! Updates at https://www.acmcountry.com/

ALBUM NEWS:

Mo Pitney is back with his new album Ain’t Lookin’ Back. Pitney, who has been named to multiple “Artists To Watch” lists by the likes of Rolling Stone, Billboard, The Huffington Post, Bobby Bones, and Spotify, among others, is influenced by traditional country music, bluegrass, blues, and singer/songwriters like Randy Newman and James Taylor. “How do I build on the foundation of what’s behind me, and then turn it into my own, something forward-facing?” asked the Cherry Valley, Illinois native when preparing to work on his new album. “I wanted to be completely open-minded, while also adding in current sounds – what is my version of what is out today, and how can that meet all of my influences of the past to hopefully make one complete thought, to make something new?” Listen and/or stream/download the album at https://mopitney.lnk.to/AintLookinBack  and watch the video for Pitney’s “Ain’t Bad For a Good Ol’ Boy.”

Just a few weeks ago, Randy Travis released his first single since his stroke in 2013. “Fool’s Love Affair,” a never before heard song, quickly garnered over one million streams on digital platforms. Download and stream the song at https://orcd.co/foolsloveaffair.   Travis also joined the viral app TikTok and has four million views on his first video in less than two days.  “Fool’s Love Affair” not only is the first new Randy Travis music in years, but it also marked the 35th Anniversary of his first radio single “On The Other Hand.” Originally recorded as a demo, the song sat in storage until one of the writers, Charlie Monk (who wrote the song with Milton Brown and Keith Stegall) rediscovered it and sent it to Travis and his longtime producer Kyle Lehning. This release was long awaited by country music fans and artists who credit him as musical inspiration.
