Immersive Van Gogh Exhibition at Nashville’s Lighthouse ArtSpace Opens March 24th

The Gogh Sculpture was created by designer Randy Wong-Westbrooke as a playful recreation of Robert Indiana's iconic love sculpture.

Immersive Van Gogh is a visually spectacular digital art exhibition that has received widespread critical acclaim throughout North America. Immersive Van Gogh invites audiences to “step inside” the iconic works of post-Impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh, evoking his highly emotional and chaotic inner consciousness through art, light, music, movement and imagination. The Italian creative team have custom designed their vision to fit the unique architecture of each Immersive Van Gogh venue.

The Immersive Van Gogh Exhibition comes to Nashville’s Lighthouse ArtSpace opens to the public March 24 and runs through June 19, 2022.

“Nashville patrons have been patient and we appreciate their understanding, but the pandemic has made our construction progress more difficult than expected,” said Corey Ross, producer of Immersive Van Gogh. “Moreover, we have a history of operating venues safely during the pandemic, and have always put health and safety first. We will not open until we can guarantee an optimal experience for ticketholders and employees.”

Today, we were given a behind the scenes sneak peek of the exhibition and the new space that will be hosting the exhibit. The tour host was Richard Ouzounian, Creative Consultant with Lighthouse ArtSpace.

Ouzounian explained how the show takes you on a journey through the life and art of Van Gogh with a visual and musical timeline of his art that includes depictions that reflect his time in Saint-Remy-de-Provence asylum and the 71 paintings he did in the days prior to his suicide in 1890. We were able to see these parts of the show during our visit and the impact for a lack of better words was touching and explosive.

The creator, Massimiliano Siccardi used Van Gogh’s paintings by taking them apart and reassembling them in this interactive exhibit. The flowers bloom before your eyes and the stars twinkle and shimmer on the water of the Rhone river.

An awe-inspiring score of both classical and contemporary music featuring selections composed by Luca Longobardi accompanies the visual spectacular. Immersive Van Gogh runs about 35 minutes and uses 67 projectors to create the breathtaking scene.

There are also really unique mirrored sculptures that are part of the main exhibition hall that were created by Director David Korin that give guests a unique vantage of observing the art. Korins has designed sets for “Hamilton” and “Dear Evan Hansen.”

The touring exhibition has sold over 4.8 million tickets across North America, securing its place as one of the most sought-after attractions on the continent. Featuring state-of-the-art technology and immersive storytelling, Immersive Van Gogh is an enchanting immersive experience.

Patrons that may not want to watch the full exhibit but would still like to experience Van Gogh have the option to come to Lighthouse ArtSpace and take advantage another exhibit in the lobby of the main space that will include several Van Gogh experiences including the Pocket Gallery, Letters from Vincent, The Sunflower Wall and the Gogh Sculpture.

The Pocket Gallery will allow visitors to down an app and aim it at what looks like a dab of paint in a frame. The will transform before their eyes and they will see a 3D version of a Van Gogh painting. As you look at the image through your phone, it feels like you stepped inside places like Van Gogh’s bedroom, the cafe he often frequented, or the ability to gaze up at a Starry Night.

Letters from Vincent allows guests to personally interact with Vincent Van Gogh. In addition to being an avid painter, Van Gogh wrote almost 1000 letters to his brother Theo. These letters have been culled through and curated so that you can actually write him a letter and he will respond. The letter, of course, is based on his writing and uses his words, but it is presented to you in his own handwriting based off of these curated letters. We still think this is the coolest part!

The Sunflower Wall is a beautiful backdrop created from on of Van Gogh’s favorite subjects and features an oversized version of his signature.

The Gogh Sculpture was created by Randy Wong-Westbrooke as a playful recreation of Robert Indiana’s iconic “Love Sculpture”, bridging the gap between Van Gogh’s era and contemporary art.

Whether you are an avid patron of the arts or just wanting to learn a little bit more about such an iconic figure in the art world, this exhibit has a little bit for everyone of any age. We highly recommend that if you get the chance to come see this exhibition that you should! It truly is a magical experience.

Ticket prices start at $39.99 ($24.99 for children 16 or younger), with timed and flexible ticket options available.
