Every now and again we come along and find a piece of music that is fresh and light, almost the color of a rainbow. I think that’s what you find here with Heather Powell.
The newest addition to the True Groove All Stars, recently signed to True Groove Records and Tomas Doncker’s group of authentic talent, Heather is all the above; fresh, light, and a mix of a beautiful rainbow.
Heather Powell’s “ A Haze of Grays and Blue” is priceless and evergreen. I will always be evergreen because the music is timeless. I hear greats such as Barbara Streisand and Karen Carpenter in the mix, both two of my all time favorites.
A retired military Medical Service Corps Officer; Heather Powell has taken a leap of love into not only a new career but a new path in life. What an amazing journey.
She commanded soldiers and took charge of military health clinics and now she takes charge of the stage and studio as well as the attention of avid fans who drink in her music.
The stage is not a strange void to her, she has been performing before large groups of people since the age of five, when she graced the angel choir at her family church. She also enjoyed performing at her home town community theater at the young age of eleven.
Heather has a unique and polished sound to her voice, it is vibrant and I love her vibrato. She is also currently working on her first musical called “Lipstick and Camouflage”…..and her next album is set to be released February 24th of this year.
All the songs on the album “A Haze of Grays and Blue” were written by Heather Powell and Tomas Doncker. Tomas Doncker is the exceptional and outstanding blues/soul man extraordinaire. Once again he has added an exceptional talent to his famously growing All Star Groove clan.
The album reminds me of traditional pop, easy listening, jazz, adult contemporary magic. I can see Heather on stage with Sinatra, Dean Martin, Barbara and even the great Bette Midler.
Each song on the album is bright and uplifting. I love the percussion and tambourine sounds mixed with the tinkle of the piano keys. Reminds me of a night on the town in New York City.
Heather is not one to wait around for things to happen, she’s one who dives in head first and takes charge to create her own joy. This album is just that, a project of joy.
This creative project was produced by Tomás Doncker and James Dellatacoma for True Groove Records. It was mixed by James Dellatacoma at Orange Music Sound Studio, in West Orange, NJ and mastered by the talented Michael Fossenkemper of Turtletone Studio.
