NAshville Dancin'Nashville Mayor Karl Dean today announced “Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General,” the return of the city’s free Thursday summer concert series at Nashville’s Riverfront Park.
“The return of the Nashville Dancin’ concert series is great news for Nashville and music fans,” said Nashville Mayor Karl Dean. “The free concerts will be family-friendly and include many top names from a variety of musical genres. Concert-goers will get a chance to enjoy our beautiful riverfront during the shows, which will add energy to our already vibrant downtown. I always say you can never have too much live music in Nashville, and I want to thank Dollar General, Tom Morales, Kaleidoscope Media and all of the great sponsors supporting this event for giving Nashvillians another great reason to come downtown for music.”
“Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General” will feature free Thursday evening shows kicking off June 13 and going through August 1 beginning at 5pm on Nashville’s Riverfront Park.  The talent lineup will be announced in May.
Television and radio personality Storme Warren will host several of the shows and the event’s festive atmosphere will be augmented by local Nashville food trucks. Produced by TomKats Inc. and Kaleidoscope Media, the return of the music series represents a collaborative effort by Dollar General, the Office of Mayor Karl Dean, Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau and sponsors: Bud Light, Twice Daily, Ole Smoky Moonshine, Patrón Spirits, Grand Avenue, Metro Parks, Green Village Recycling, Horton Group, Nashville Scene, Comcast, 102.9 The Buzz, Now Playing Nashville and Yelp.
“Dollar General is committed to Nashville and improving the quality of life in our community,” said Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO of Dollar General. “We’re excited to support an event that’s good for our city and will provide free music downtown. Helping people save money is what we’re all about, so we see “Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General” as a way to give back to our city and the people of Middle Tennessee.”
For over a decade, Dancin’ in the District was a Nashville institution, bringing some of the best live music to downtown Nashville and helping to revitalize lower Broadway. With the city’s growing economy and the current national attention on Music City, “Nashville Dancin’ presented by Dollar General” will be a welcomed addition to the city's entertainment landscape.
Tom Morales, creator of the original series and producer of “Nashville Dancin' presented by Dollar General,” says it was the right time to launch the new and exciting downtown event.
“A generation of Nashvillians grew up with Dancin’, so it's natural that it return. In a lot of ways, it helped foster what Nashville is today,” Morales said.
“Nashville Dancin' presented by Dollar General” is expected to attract thousands of attendees per week, directly impacting downtown businesses and increasing foot traffic.
“Nashville is known for having world-class, free live music and this only adds to the package,” said Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The concert series will boost what is already a thriving tourism season and bring even more visitors to see all that Music City has to offer.”
Dancin’ attendees will have free parking at LP Field thanks to the Tennessee Titans. Additionally, Grand Avenue is providing free shuttle service from the stadium to Riverfront Park; however, patrons are encouraged to utilize the pedestrian bridge.
