Folk Artist Geoff Gibbons Releases New Single Called “Rollin Free”

My last review on Geoff Gibbons was his release in 2017 called “Buffalo Hotel” and this latest release is a sure fire winner in the collection. I’m sure you’ll like it.

Gibbons reminds me a lot of Ryan Adams and Jackson Browne. His style is easy and layed back as most folk and alternative country artists are.

“Sepia-tinted panoramas and meticulous song craft…Geoff Gibbons delivers a rich collection of new songs with his new release Buffalo Hotel.” – Music Connection Magazine – Los Angeles

His style of writing is infused with being on the same wavelength as the listener. It’s immersed with soul and warmth that’s expressing real life emotions and feelings. I suppose you could say it’s “genuine.”

“Vancouver singer/songwriter Geoff Gibbons has an excellent new body of work that really deserves to be heard. Buffalo Hotel is a twelve song collection of carefully crafted songs, reminiscent of Jackson Browne and even a little J.D. Souther.” – Cashbox Magazine – Toronto

Rollin Free” is super hot right now. Reviews from around the country can’t say enough of how this new release is catching on. It’s smooth and relaxed, reminiscent of the easy free rollin days in the 70’s when we cruised with the top down on long drives in the country.

“Buffalo Hotel is a really great album!…We are both very impressed with the songcraft..Stylistically I hear Blue Rodeo and Lyle Lovett in Geoff’s music.” – Bob Reid & Blair Packham – In The Studio – Toronto

Gibbons work on the single has been likened to Tom Petty and I would agree. The melody immediately draws you in and it will stick with you, as you will be singing it all day. The classic guitar blends well with that raspy, husky gruffness of his voice that I think fits so well with the style of music he presents. It gives that cool, free and easy feeling to the song and welcomes you in, no holds barred.

On a trip to three of the Souths most prominent music recording cities, Muscle Shoals Alabama, Nashville, and then Memphis TN, Gibbons was hooked and his outlook transformed. “When I got back home I wasn’t just inspired, I was altered. It was like traveling to a musical Mecca.” ~Geoff Gibbons~

The seventies country rock era has been a huge influence in the style of music that Geoff creates. I think his style of writing and performing will be a part of what I call the evergreen genre. It’s timeless.

Accolades for Geoff include 5 High Rotation National Videos with CMT, Concert openers with- Emmy-Lou Harris, T-Bone Burnette, David Crosby, and Levon Helm & Rick Danko. And he composed songs and score for the Lions Gates Films “Wolf Moon”. This release was produced by John MacArthur Ellis. It presents in the style of Americana Folk, Alternative Country and Southern Soul. He has been likened to artists such as Jackson Browne, the Eagles, and Ryan Adams.

Gibbons is one of those artists that has that natural born ability to see something and turn it in to a musical story, a song, that will impress and hold a persons attention endlessly. His vision lyrically is open ended and instrumentally he can tell a story with only a few notes. Gibbons is a natural born storyteller.

“As writers we have worlds inside of our brains and there’s always something we’ve not experienced. ‘What If I had done this? If I was there what would it feel like?’ There’s an element of that — like a lush dream that permeated my consciousness. This is who I am. I have always been true to music. I’d like to have this music come out and affect peoples’ lives; to haunt them in the best possible way.” ~ Geoff Gibbons
