Folk Artist CommonUnion59 Release New Single “Borrowed Time”

Wow, from the first note this new song grabs your attention. The harmonies are tight and what sounds like a dobro instrument is inviting and welcoming.

The song is “Borrowed Time” and it speaks of living a life on borrowed time. Those of us who are close to nature and follow the challenges we live in today such as global warming, nuclear weapons and natural disasters will understand the message quickly. Time is truly a precious thing.

Instrumentation on this new single is fabulous. The choice of instruments also sets the song apart from most main stream music today. It’s not something heard consistently which makes it very special and unique to the artists who use it.

Previous music released by CommonUnion59 is free on their website. You’ll enjoy releases such as “Magnolia Waltz”, “Heartbeat Serenade”, their “Holiday EP”, and “Prairie Tales.”

This act’s folk-ish leanings just warm the heart. It’s the kind of music many long to hear…You can laugh about the Summer of Love’s excesses, but we could sure use that kind of a love revival right now. Let this album be its soundtrack, in fact. ~AntiMusic.com~

McKenzie and Malasig have used the classic techniques of blending blues, country and subtle folk just as the 60’s masters did..

Songs by CU59 are based on real life events for the artist, such as dreams, inspirations and the events in the world around us today. Their sound has been described as California pop with a taste of Americana, country and folk. Your gonna love the vintage vibes and the folk-pop sound that is CommonUnion59.

Lauran Malasig and Steve McKenzie are CommonUnion59. They write, perform, and record all of their original music expressing personal and intimate emotions of their own life experiences bringing it to a personal forefront lyrically and instrumentally. The stirring emotion in what could be easily called ballad writing will peak your interest and hold your attention as you listen to each and every word.

Their music is definitely organic and stright from the soul. The synergy between the two is like a melding of raw and spontaneous mutual vivacity.

…COMMONUNION59 IS A DUO THAT HAS DEFINITE LEGS, CRAFTING COMPELLING AND INTELkLIiGENT MUSIC WITH PASSION, POISE, AND SKILL. AND WITH A MUSICAL PALETTE THAT SPANS FROM ROOTS BLUES, FOLK, POP, AND MORE, THEY’VE GOT THE CHOPS TO PULL OFF SOMETHING BIG. ~ANDREW GREENHALGH~

They are storytellers expressing true life in an eloqent simplicity that transcends time. I suppose you could say their music is evergreen.

When we were almost finished with the video, we sent it to the folks at The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. They liked it and allowed us to use the “Doomsday Clock” and their quote “The new abnormal. It is STILL 2 minutes to midnight!”

The subject of nuclear annihilation has currently faded to the background but the threat is still very real and present. We wanted to highlight that. ~CommonUnion59~

CommonUnion59 are an Americana style duo who have been liked to artists like Simon and Garfunkle and Brandi Carlile. They would also fit well with artists like Boby Dylan and Joni Mitchell. They have been described in earlier reviews and conveying the image of “one guitar, one voice” sound, https://guardianlv.com/2015/01/commonunion59s-heartbeat-serenade-is-a-feel-good-folk-album-review/ and a “feel-good, life is beautiful” message to the listeners.

They appeared here in our publication when we presented their debut album “Heartbeat Serenade” in 2015. Since that time they have written some of the most moving songs in folk/Americana genre. https://www.nashvillemusicguide.com/common-union-59-releases-heartbeat-serenade/
