Darin & Brooke Aldridge Band Revives a Classic and Tops the Charts with “Tennessee Flat Top Box”

A classic country song has become a hit once again, at the hands of Darin and Brooke Aldridge and their band. “Tennessee Flat Top Box” is the current Number One song on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart. It appears on the Aldridge’s new album Snapshots(Mountain Home Music Company).

Now a hit for the third time, “Tennessee Flat Top Box” was written and recorded by Johnny Cash, and made its way to Number 11 on Billboard in 1961.

Johnny’s daughter, Rosanne Cash, recorded her version on the albumKing’s Record Shop and the song reached Number One on Billboard in 1988. It featured Randy Scruggs (Earl’s son) on guitar solos.

The album Snapshots from Darin and Brooke debuted at Number 8 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album Chart.

The Bluegrass Today chart is compiled weekly from actual airplay data reported by contributing DJs. The numbers reflect airplay on satellite and terrestrial radio, both commercial and non-commercial stations. The chart does not include activity on streaming internet broadcasts.

Darin and Brooke Aldridge will appear on the WSM Durango Stage at CMA Music Fest in Nashville on June 13.
