CD Review: Ben Stillwater, “Montana in the Spring”

Ben Stillwater brings us yet again another great CD loaded with well written and wonderfully performed songs. This is true traditional country music, reminiscent to the early styles of Merle Haggard. He keeps things simple with Andy Peake on the Congo drums, Big Bill Young on string bass and Chad Webb on cello while rhythm and lead guitars and all vocals are Stillwater. The assembly makes for an amazing blend. The title track, “Montana in the Spring” is a beautiful melody with sweet cello that will have you wishing you were there. All songs were written by Stillwater. My personal favorites are seven: “Old Friend”, eight: “Going Home”, and nine: “Almost Home.” This is a good album to listen to as well as dance too.  Check it out: www.benstillwater.com.
