black sheltonatCMHofAward-winning country music phenomenon Blake Shelton will be the subject of a career-spanning exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum.Blake Shelton: Based on a True Story, which opens May 27, 2016, will explore the life and work of one of country music’s most popular and multi-dimensional artists.
“Blake Shelton is one of the most well-established contemporary artists in country music,” said museum CEO Kyle Young. “Countless accolades into his musical career, he continues to stay true to his sound and musical style, and continues to receive recognition for it. We’re honored to host this exhibition and to share the story of this incredibly talented individual.”
“I came to Nashville in 1994, and I’ve always been fascinated by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum,” Shelton said. “I remember the first time I walked in there, I was blown away. To have my own exhibit is more than a dream come true, because I never dreamed it could happen! It’s crazy, is what it is. I couldn’t be more excited or more honored than to be a part of the museum.”
With his bold vocals and rugged allure, Shelton was destined for stardom. The exhibition will examine the star’s road to success, from his childhood to his move to Nashville as a teen, and from his multi-platinum recording breakthrough to becoming a national celebrity on NBC’s The Voice, where Shelton has been the coach of four champions over the show’s previous nine seasons.
The country music superstar brought his honky-tonk roots to contemporary Nashville song craft, and he has since grown to be one of America’s most beloved celebrities. A range of artifacts, including stage wear, instruments, song manuscripts, photos, and personal items will help tell the story of Shelton’s struggles and triumphs.
