A poignant song, penned by Cris Loiter (of Cris Loiter and the Hangouts), is being released just in time for Veteran’s Day, and proceeds from download sales will benefit an organization dedicated to honoring the memory of those who have served.

“Ask Him About the War” will be available on iTunes and CD Baby this Veteran’s Day – Wednesday, November 11, 2015. It is the first single from the album, Songs from the Soul, from Cris Loiter and the Hangouts. Originally based in the San Francisco Bay area, the band was active in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, and recently reunited to create this new concept album.

“Ask Him About the War” is a song that is dedicated to all our current military men and women and all the veterans who have served our country. It is based on the story of a World War II veteran and hero living in modern times. All proceeds from the song will go to Remembering Our Fallen organization (www.rememberingourfallen.org).

Cris Loiter and the Hangouts consists of Cris along with Karrie Kintzley Kulick, Michael Grosenheider, Bob Langlie and Greg Sankovich. All had remained separately involved in the San Francisco live and studio music scene since the 80’s. In 1992, Cris Loiter, the band’s founder and leader moved to Nashville, TN along with his wife (Hangout vocalist, Karrie Kintzley-Kulick) to spend the next 20 plus years working in radio under his “non-artist name,” Chris Kulick.

In 2014 when the group reunited for this project, many months of collaboration involving travel between Nashville and the Bay Area ensued. The basic tracks were cut at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA and the vocals were finished in Nashville at Mainframe Studio. Bob Langlie is the executive producer on the project with co-production by Chris Kulick (Cris Loiter), Michael Grosenheider and Greg Sankovich.

While recording in Berkeley, Cris Loiter and the Hangouts also played a live show at The Fenix Clubin San Rafael, CA. The performance was recorded and is available for livestream on Fenix.com.

Cris Loiter and the Hangouts originally recorded two albums: Old Time Night and Red Radio.  Both albums were nominated for BAMMY’s (Bay Area Music Award) with Old Time Night winning “Best Independent Album” in 1987. Past recipients of this award have included Santana, John Fogerty, and Huey Lewis and the News.

Nashville area fans can hear Cris Loiter live at The Commodore Lounge on November 18th when we appears as a guest of award winning songwriter, Jerry Foster.
