Folk Americana Artist Seneko Releases New EP “Soul Numbers” I believe this is the third time we have reviewed music from Seneko and I must say once again he delivers. Seneko, Stan Olshefski, is gaining momentum with this latest release and reviews are high.
Stan “Seneko” Oshefski has devoted his life and love to music. The past six years have been dedicated to honing his craft and investing solidly into his passion for songwriting.
Press Quote: He’s been described as “Think country meets Radiohead” by Wail Music Magazine and featured in the Huffington Post, who wrote “Seneko brings to mind the whimsey of the Gin Blossoms”.
The album has various flavors and appealing sounds such as a charming 70’s feel on “The Devil You Don’t Know” as it gives us a soulful mosaic pallet in the story of a jilted man. I enjoyed “Calling Of The Cause” with its saucy country based feel and slide guitar was superb. It’s not fully country but not fully rock, yet a nice balanced blend of both.
“Jenny’s With Irene” has a fun twist to it as the storyline is that the guy has lost his lover to another woman. It’s exhilarating and bold. I love it. “One Hot Shot” opens with a cool feel as the bass invokes the essence of a heartbeat, it feels more like a traditional rock song with a grooving country sound.
This EP fits warmly into the Folk/Americana/Alternative Country setting and the work is meticulously done with jangly riffs, pop twangs, and country rock. The artistic talent in the songwriting is dead on with quick-witted lyrics and a band that slays. The piano artwork takes me back to the old tavern sounds of my husbands Hammond B3, and the mix of speaking vocals and lyrical singing makes the EP vibrate on a larger level than most. I give a 5 stars hands down.
Seneko presents to us in the styles and genres of Alt-Country, Alt Rock, Americana, and Folk and he has been likened to artists such as Wilco, Traveling Wilburys, Radiohead, and The Jayhawks.
Musicians and talents who lend their musical skills to the EP and receive due credit are Stan Olshefski songwriter for all songs on the collection and vocals. Jon Conley performs on guitar, Tim Denbo on bass, Dave Racine holding down the beat on drums and David Dorn on keyboards.
background vocals are from Kendra Chantelle,

Press Quote: Seneko is a gifted songwriter and I’m really lookingforward to hearing more from him. I didn’t get the Gin Blossoms comparison at all but these tracks stand on their own just fine. Highly recommended. ~Johnny Taylor Jr. from Now Hear This~
