Shameless purveyors of old time music (and equally old time humor), The Tennessee Mafia Jug Band(www.tennesseemafiajugband.com) is one of the three recipients of the TRAILBLAZER AWARD at Uncle Dave Macon Days.

The jug band has toured the world and played the Grand Ole Opry, Music City Roots and other prestigious stages. They are frequent guests on Marty Stuart’s RFD-TV show. The award is bestowed on artists for contributions to old-time music and in recognition of performance and preservation efforts. Also being honored as TRAILBLAZER AWARD winners are bluegrass mandolin master,Roland White, and a member of the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band, banjo player and humorist, Leroy Troy.

Additionally, Uncle Dave Macon Days organizers are expected to announce the reinstatement of the jug band competition, which was discontinued several years ago. This competition will return the annual old time music festival in 2015 and will be named for Lester A. Armistead, founding member of the Tennessee Mafia Jug band, who passed away this Spring after a short battle with cancer. Armistead was well known among Bluegrass, Acoustic and Americana artists.
