Harmonies of the heart are sometimes the most beautiful and that’s what we have here with “Sun and Shade” by Eric Pedigo.

Smooth and welcoming are the lyrics and vocals accompanied by free flowing instrumental gold. Each song is unique and has a deep story to tell about love, companionship, hope and inspiration.

Eric Pedigo is a singer/songwriter based in Indianapolis, Indiana. His classification would fall under pop, Jazz, Folk Pop. With his broad range and scale of talent he would easily slide in to several other categories.

This album, released this past July, was produced by David Ertel, Derek England, and Jim Bailey who are also members of the band. The sound of this amazing group of musicians has been likened to Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, and John Mayer.

“Forbidden Love” has a strong solid folk rock vibe to it. It’s about a love that sets your heart and soul on fire, a love that inflames your entire being, one that the flame never goes out. At least it was for me. This selection was one of my favorites.

“I aspire to inspire. To connect. To share. To spark a flame. To give a piece of momentary happiness. My song is my island. I want others to feel engaged the way I do l when I listen to songs I love. Alive.

I’ve been at this for about 15 years now. Writing songs and playing shows. I have always wanted to write songs that were an insight to my life but also relate-able to others. Songs that were simple and would get stuck in your head. My first solo EP, Parachute, was released in February of 2014. It was an eye opener in that I found that I had a lot to learn and a long way to go. Since then, I’ve been channeling my life into writing even more and learning more about the craft in hopes to improve the quality of my writing.

On July 7, 2017 I released my new album, Sun & Shade. This is a collection of songs about searching for love and sometimes finding it. Its about choosing optimism over pessimism. Its about searching for my place in the world among the chaos.” ~ Eric Pedigo~

Pedigo has been developing his one of a kind style for over 15 years now and it shows. His music is infectious, intoxicating, and inviting. The nine tracks on this album are alluring and infiltrate your senses with thoughts of finding not only love but passion for life.

Pedigo’s vocals are dead on in pitch and range and the expressive texture allows the melodies to sail freely. I think its the heartfelt conviction in the lyrics that make the vocals so raw and powerful with a warm expression.

Instrumentation on this album is balanced, full and rich. “Purposefully Forgetful” is delightful with a somewhat tropical island feel. Reminded me of days near the ocean with my toes in the sand. “Knock Me Down” is a cool pop tune filled with a smooth and easy pallet. It too brings to mind warm summer nights walking hand in hand with that special someone. I really enjoyed the brightness of the ukulele.

The entire album presents a positive and inspirational texture to it. I felt inspired to hold on to a positive outlook even though some days life challenged me. Great work from Eric Pedigo…original and thought provoking.
