Tom Hambridge: Producer’s Spotlight October 2010

A native son of Buffalo, New York, Tom started playing drums at the age of 5 and was in his first band, Undertow, in the 3rd grade. Tom’s formal education began with a scholarship at Boston’s world famous Berklee School of Music, where he frequently returns as a guest lecturer. After years of touring and performances with the many of the biggest names in the business (Chuck Berry, Roy Buchanan, The Drifters and many more), Tom set his sights on Nashville where he lives and works today as a producer, songwriter, and performer. Soon after arriving, Hambridge signed a publishing deal that led to remarkable success with countless songs used in major motion pictures, television and by many legendary recording stars including: Buddy Guy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meat Loaf, Montgomery Gentry and Johnny Winter. Click here for the most recent list of hit records. Tom wrote four songs on Delbert McClinton’s Grammy award winning CD, “The Cost of Living”. He also received the 2007 ASCAP Song of the Year for co-writing Keith Anderson’s smash hit “Every Time I Hear Your Name”. His drumming can be heard on the Ashley Cleveland’s 2008 Grammy Award winning album “Before the Daylight’s Shot”.

In 2010 (so far) Tom’s music can be heard everywhere …. the brand new BB King and Buddy Guy collaboration, ” Stay Around a Little Longer”, which was written and produced by Tom is an historic first-time studio duet of the two legends. The song will appear on Buddy’s newest Silvertone Records album, Living Proof, due for release October, 26 2010.  Also in 2010, Tom’s “Boneyard” is the B side of Meat Loaf’s latest single “Los Angeloser” and the BONUS iTunes track from Hang Cool Teddy Bear. American Idol Runner-Up Danny Gokey’s RCA Debut CD, My Best Days, features “Life On Ya”; Gretchen Wilson’s New CD features “Walk On Water” and the title track “I Got Your Country Right Here”; Texas Blues Guitarist Guitar Short records Tom’s “Get Off” On Alligator Records; and on Jack Ingram’s newest CD, Big Dreams and High Hopes, you can hear Tom’s “Not Giving Up On Me”. And Tom’s song performed by Sony’s Joanna Smith’s “Gettin’ Married” hit the charts with a bullet.

As a Producer, he’s worked with many of the best in the business. He received a 2005 Grammy® nomination for his role as Producer of Johnny Winter‘s newest recording “I’m a Bluesman.” His most recent project and Grammy® nomination involves producing a star-studded group of musicians including Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks and Robert Randolph on the latest Buddy Guy CD, Skin Deep which was nominated for a 2008 Grammy® for Best Original Blues Album of the Year. The record is Buddy’s highest charting record of all time and earned a formidable number of positive reviews. In addition he produced Susan Tedeschi‘s Platinum-selling, Grammy®-nominated “Just Won’t Burn” CD. Tom wrote her Top 10 Triple A hits “Rock Me Right” and “It Hurt So Bad.” He has co-produced and written songs on George Thorogood‘s last three CD’s, one of which debuted as #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts. Much to his kids’ delight, Tom has recorded vocals on tracks for two smash DISNEY hits, “Cars” (2006) and “Ratatoulie” (2007.) His latest Disney project entailed producing and playing drums on BB King‘s smooth and beautiful rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

If that’s not enough, Tom’s released 5 critically acclaimed solo CD’s (Still Running, Balderdash, Bang ‘n’ Roll and Tom Hambridge and the Rattlesnakes Live! and Boogieman) and actively tours with his solo band, Tom Hambridge and The Rattlesnakes. Tom has also performed with Leroy Parnell, Montgomery Gentry (Platinum Award), Delbert McClinton, Keith Anderson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Malick Group (Featuring Nora Jones), George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Johnny Winter, Susan Tedeschi, Kate Taylor, Pat Buchanan & Thundermug, Andy Pratt, Catie Curtis, Dennis Brennen, Pete Droge, Bob Rivers, Jeffery Steel & (Grammy Nominated) Tribute to Mark Heard . Tom has over 100 songs in film and television and over 200 songs recorded by other artists.  In 1990 Tom was named Drummer of the Year, in 2001 Tom was inducted into the Buffalo Hall of Fame and Tom is also Boston Music Awards winner. Tom has songs slated for release in the coming months with Pat Green, Buddy Guy, Gary Rossington/Dale Krantz and Steve Cropper/Felix Cavaliere on MIDNIGHT FLYER.
