Legends & Veterans News & Notes by Marty Martel

DonwilliamsDon Williams, the gentle giant, retired last year and now back out on the road. I guess he is not just ready to call it a day. Don is going to tour only in the month of October and the first week of November to coincide with his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Anyone taking odds he will not give it up just yet. Don will be playing thr Ryman on October 20th, 2010.

John AndersonJohn Anderson still going as strong as ever. Loves his music, but he loves his fishing too. One of the last real stylist in country music. When you hear John Anderson or John Conlee sing a song, you know exactly who it is, and if you don’t, then you are too young to know the difference.

Roy ClarkRoy Clark, Mr. Guitar, moves to Jim Halsey for management, and to William Morris for personal appearances.  I have had Roy and his great band on many shows and he is one of great entertainers of our time, plus he is a bona-fide member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Wonder what Roy has in mind for his career??

Ken MellonsKen Mellons.  WHERE IS THE JUKEBOX JUNKIE?  One of  Nashville’s great singers and songwriters.  How did the country music industry miss this super talent?  What were they thinking?  Sometimes I wonder how some of these great artists fall off of the face of the earth.  Remember Rub-A-Dub-Dub and Jukebox Junkie.  That is when country was country.
