Nashville songwriter/producer Byron Hill wins the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) top award for 2010 Producer of the Year. The award, shared with CCMA multiple award-winning artist Gord Bamford, is in recognition of their work on Bamford’s 2010 album, DAY JOB, released by Royalty Records.
“To be honored in Canada as a producer means a lot to me,” says Hill.”I just hope that in some way I can reciprocate by helping share the music of some great Canadian talents like Gord Bamford, Hey Romeo and others to the American country market.”
Previously, Hill won the CCMA 2008 Producer Of The Year award for his work on Bamford’s HONKYTONKS AND HEARTACHES album, and Byron has been recognized in Canada in the past for his work as a songwriter and producer with artists Gil Grand (Monument Records) and Marie Bottrell (2010 CCMA Hall of Honor inductee).
Byron moved to Nashville from North Carolina in 1978, and has been a professional songwriter for 32 years. His songs have generated more than 650 recordings, earned 77 RIAA certified Gold and Platinum awards, 10 ASCAP awards, 25 U.S. and Canadian Top 10 chart hits, including 10 Number 1’s in various markets.
His songs have been recorded by Ray Charles, Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Anne Murray, Juice Newton, Joe Nichols, Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, Rhonda Vincent, Doc & Merle Watson, Trace Adkins, John Michael Montgomery, George Jones, Toby Keith, Reba McEntire, The Oak Ridge Boys, Colt Ford and many others. His songs have been recorded throughout the world, released by artists in England, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Holland, Canada, Australia and South Africa.
