Broken Bow Records recording artists

James Wesley

With a whiskey-smooth voice and a timelessly winning way with a great country song, Broken Bow Records recording artist James Wesley sings directly to real people about real things that profoundly affect real lives—and from his small-town upbringing to his blue-collar work ethic, he has a deep understanding of what those folks are longing to hear. Born in a small town in the Southeast corner of Kansas, while still in high school, Wesley began singing in church, quickly evolving into filling up local bars and clubs while in college. After performing at live venues for several years, James traveled to Nashville and met hit songwriter Rodney Clawson (“Why” “Amarillo Sky” “Johnny Cash” “I Saw God Today,”) and producer/engineer Dan Frizsell.  They quickly collaborated–creating a project that eventually made it to the ears of Broken Bow Records CEO/President Benny Brown. Wesley's current Top 30 single,  “Real,” written by Neal Coty and Jimmy Melton, has been getting great fan reaction due to its instantly relatable and clever lyrics.  www.jameswesleymusic.com

Josh Thompson

Columbia Nashville recording artist Josh Thompson burst onto the country music scene with the release of his debut album, Way Out Here – earning the # 9 spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. A native of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Josh began pouring concrete with his father at the age of 12, giving him first hand insight about the trials of hard-working people everywhere. Thompson's newest single, “Won't Be Lonely Long,” is a hell-raiser about being dumped as the gateway to a great Friday night.  It follows his Top 15 single and the album's title track, “Way Out Here,” and his Top 20 debut single, “Beer On The Table.” Way Out Here features ten songs written or co-written by Josh, and has drawn praise from countless critics, including NPR Fresh

Air's Ken Tucker and Billboard's
Wade Jessen as well as People Magazine, Country Weekly, AOL's The Boot, CMT.com and others. Josh has recently been nominated for a 2010 American Country Award for Single Of The Year: Breakthrough Artist for “Beer On The Table.” www.joshthompsonofficial.com.

Columbia Nashville recording artist

Joanna Smith

Thompson's Columbia Nashville label-mate, Joanna Smith, grew up in the small Georgia farm community of Crestview, Unincorporated.  She knew she was destined to sing country music when at age five she told a judge at a talent contest, “I am already a country music singer, but I don't get to get onstage much.” With no connections in Music City, she set out writing and singing demos, and in a little over a year signed her first publishing deal. Since then, she has had two songs cut (“Flying By” on Billy Ray Cyrus' latest record, Home At Last) and last fall, she signed a contract with Columbia Nashville and a publishing deal with Sony/ATV-Monument.  She's also recently opened for Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, and Wynonna Judd. www.joannasmithofficial.com
