IBMA Entertainer of the Year brings heart and harmony to Dan Seals’ Hit
Impacting Country Radio April 13th

The origins of country music are rooted in the folk and acoustic music of the American South, blending traditional ballads, cowboy songs, and various musical traditions including Celtic fiddle tunes. The highly awarded acoustic band, Balsam Range, shares these musical roots.

Balsam Range has released “Everything That Glitters (is not Gold)” to country radio through the All Access Radio Download service. Devotees of traditional country music will delight in the new life that has been breathed into this country classic at the gifted hands of Balsam Range. The song appears on the band’s fifth album, FIVE (Mountain Home Music Company) and now makes the song available to country radio. It is featured in the “Cool New Music” section of All Access.

This is the first single from Balsam Range to country radio. The moving cover of the Dan Seals country hit showcases Buddy Melton’s award-winning voice and that distinctive Balsam Range harmony. Oh the heels of the country radio release, Balsam Range will bring its special brand of Bluegrass, Roots and Americana to one of Country Music’s largest festivals, Stagecoach Festival on April 24th in Indio, CA.

Dan Seals began a solo career in country music in the 1980’s after the soft rock duo of England Dan & John Ford Coley disbanded. On his most successful country album, Won’t Be Blue Anymore, Seals included the ballad “Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)” co-written with fellow Texan, Bob McDill. The song tells the story of a man left alone to raise his daughter when his estranged wife prefers life on the rodeo circuit.

Balsam Range is among the most exciting and buzzworthy acts on the acoustic scene. The musical virtuosity and vocal precision of Tim Surrett, Buddy Melton, Darren Nicholson, Marc Pruett and Caleb Smith has quickly propelled the North Carolina based band from hometown heroes to the international stage. The distinctive sound of Balsam Range is a draw from bluegrass festivals to large multi-genre events, including the Zac Brown Southern Ground Festivals, the Rhythm & Roots Reunion and Stagecoach, California’s Country Music Festival.

Balsam Rang is the reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year, and singer/fiddler Buddy Melton is the current Male Vocalist of the Year.

Balsam Range’s fifth album, FIVE, debuted at #4 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album chart and stayed firmly in the Top 5 for six consecutive weeks. Additionally, FIVE (Mountain Home Music) has produced several charting singles in Bluegrass/Roots/Americana including top ten debuts with: “Moon Over Memphis” (Bluegrass Today & Roots Music Report) and “Stacking Up Rocks” (Bluegrass Today).
