MUSIC NEWS: Suzy Bogguss’ new project, AMERICAN FOLK SONGBOOK, was released last month, at all Cracker Barrel Country Stores and followed by a wide release to other fine retail and digital outlets this month. It is a compilation of 17 of the best loved American folk songs. Suzy breathes new life into these songs and includes a 96-page book that she has written to accompany the CD. The book contains history of the songs and Suzy’s thoughts on each one. Recently, Suzy joined forces with Keith Case and Associates, the artist representation agency that focuses on bluegrass and roots music.

LABEL NEWS: Capitol Records Luke Bryan’s current single, “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” has been certified Gold by the RIAA. The up-tempo Top 10 hit is the lead single off Luke’s TAILGATES AND TANLINES, cd released on August 9. Co-written with songwriting vet Dallas Davidson, “Country Girl” is Luke’s third Gold-certified single. The song debuted at #1 in U.S. country digital singles sales with 105,498 downloads and is the fastest rising single of his career. It follows Luke’s recent three back-to-back #1 singles “Do I,” “Rain Is A Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby,” all from his Gold-certified album DOIN’ MY THING.
